LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — A daycare employee in Loudoun County has been charged after an investigation revealed an infant suffered life-threatening injuries while in her care. In addition, police say she did not provide aid to the infant after the injuries.

On Nov. 7, 2022 around 5 p.m., detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office responded to an area hospital for a report of an infant suffering from life-threatening injuries.

After conducting an investigation, detectives determined that the injuries occurred while the infant was in the care of an employee at the Winwood Children's Center located in the 43200 block of Hay Road in Ashburn, Va.

On Friday, 50-year-old Shabana Saleem of Ashburn was arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect in this incident, according to a news release.

Police say Saleem was taken to the Loudoun County Detention Center, where she is being held on no bond.

The infant involved has since been released from the hospital.
