MANASSAS, Va. — A casual dining chain best known for its wings recently announced it was closing dozens of its underperforming restaurants across the country.
Hooters, an Atlanta-based business, cited "pressure from current market conditions" as the reason it needed to shut down operations at some restaurants. While Hooters didn't specify the exact number of restaurants it was closing, nor release a list, there are 41 Hooters locations now listed as "permanently closed" on Google, and removed from the Hooters website.
One location in the DMV was on the chopping block: the Manassas, Virginia locale at 8503 Rixlew Lane.
The only Hooters restaurant in Maryland on the closure list is on Light Street in Baltimore.

Despite the latest closures, Hooters said its 41-year-old brand "remains highly resilient and relevant."
"We look forward to continuing to serve our guests at home, on the go and at our restaurants here in the U.S. and around the globe," the company stated.
Hooters is just the latest chain to abruptly close several locations. Last month, Red Lobster closed more than 90 locations -- including two in Northern Virginia -- before filing for bankruptcy.
