Fairfax County Police retire former electronic detection K9 and welcome a new one

Police believe Delaware and her unique set of skills and training will uphold and build upon the legacy left behind by Browser.

FAIRFAX, Va. — The Fairfax County Police Department is welcoming a new K-9 to the family. K-9 Delaware is the new electronics detection dog.

Police believe Delaware and her unique set of skills and training will uphold and build upon the legacy left behind by Browser.

Browser was the former FCPD Electronic Detection K-9. He officially entered into retirement after four years with the department. Since 2019, Browser and his handler Detective McCoy have completed over 1,200 hours of training.

During this time, Browser participated in 153 deployments, contributed to 24 successful operations, and helped execute 151 search warrants. Detective McCoy gushed over Browser saying his ability to adapt and excel elevated FCPD’s overall operational efficiency.

Looking ahead to Delaware joining the team, everyone is excited for the fresh perspective and energy she’ll bring to the department. Officers say they are confident that she will seamlessly integrate into the team and continue to provide safety and well-being to the community.
