Fairfax Police believe laundromat burglaries in Virginia are connected

Detectives are asking for the public's help to find the person responsible.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Fairfax County Police detectives are working to find the person responsible for a string of burglaries at laundry businesses they believe to be connected. Detectives are asking for the public's help to identify the man captured on surveillance video.

The first incident happened just after midnight on Dec. 30. Officers responded to a report of a burglary at 8757 Richmond Highway in the Woodlawn Shopping Center. The location is currently in the process of being converted into a dry-cleaning business.

Police said a person broke a window to the business and got inside. Nothing appeared to be taken. Investigators say the suspect was wearing bright yellow gloves, a black hooded zip-up jacket, black pants, a black mask and brown and gray shoes. Detectives captured the person on surveillance video.

Later that same night, officers responded to a burglary at the Stars Laundromat on 8792 Sacramento Drive in the Woodlawn Shopping Center. A window had been smashed to get inside the business. Cash was taken from the business, according to police.

Then, on Jan. 8, just before 8:30 a.m., officers again responded to the Stars Laundromat. Once again the burglar got inside by smashing glass. Cash was taken, and the suspect ran away.

Detectives once again found the man on surveillance video.
