FAIRFAX, Va. — The man who fled from a fatal hit and run motorcycle crash has been arrested, five months later.

Police say, on May 12 Michael Burghardt was driving down Rolling Road and Delong Drive in the wrong direction at 5:18 a.m. Reports say Burghardt hit Cornell Parish III who was riding his motorcycle down the same road.

Burghardt did not stay on the scene, according to officers. First responders arrived and transported Parish to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

On Wednesday, Fairfax County Police identified and arrested Burghardt. He was held at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond and charged with Manslaughter and Felony Hit and Run.

This is still an active investigation, detectives would like to speak to anyone with more information on the case.
