ASHBURN, Va. — Three people are dead after a two-vehicle crash in Loudoun County late Wednesday night, sparking an investigation into what happened.
Officers with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office responded to Loudoun County Parkway, north of Shellhorn Road, in Ashburn, around 10:50 p.m. after a report of a crash. At the scene, deputies located two vehicles, a 2023 Dodge Challenger and a 2023 Toyota Sienna taxicab, that were involved in the collision as well as three people who suffered injuries.
Through an initial investigation, it has been determined that the driver of the Dodge was driving northbound on Loudoun County Parkway when he lost control of the vehicle, crossing the median, and ultimately striking the minivan head on. Deputies say speed appears to be a factor.
Iran Hinson, a 56-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada man, the only person in the Dodge, along with the two people in the minivan, a 51-year-old Silver Spring, Maryland man named Dejene B. Haye and James E. Humphrey, a 66-year-old Brambleton, Virginia man, were all pronounced dead at the scene.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision. Witnesses to the crash who have not already spoken with law enforcement are asked to contact Investigator Doug Lake at 703-777-1021.
