Investigation underway after elementary school teacher exposed himself to juveniles in Fairfax County

Detectives say they believe he exposed himself to at least four additional victims near Stratford Elementary School within the past two weeks.

FORT HUNT, Va. — A Fairfax County elementary school teacher is facing multiple charges after exposing himself to a child Saturday afternoon. Police say there may be other young victims to his crime.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of Camden Street and Wittington Boulevard in Fort Hunt at 1:30 p.m. after a report of an indecent exposure.

Through an investigation, it was determined that 27-year-old James Nugent II, of Alexandria, approached the young victim in a Toyota Sienna, luring them to the van. He then exposed himself and that is when the victim ran away, and called authorities.

The victim was not injured during the interaction.

Police were able to identify Nugent as the person of interest in the case after reviewing nearby License Plate Readers which led them to the van he was driving. A search warrant was used on his residence Wednesday morning, which led to the discovery of numerous child sexual abuse material.

He was taken into custody and charged with taking indecent liberties with child and 13 counts of distribution of child pornography, according to the police department.
