1 dead, 1 injured after collision in Fairfax County

A 22-year-old man from Manassas has died.

CLIFTON, Va. — The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating a crash in Clifton that turned deadly.

On Saturday, officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Old Yates Ford Road and Henderson Road involving a 2003 Honda Accord and a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas.

The driver of the Honda was not injured, while the passenger was taken to an area hospital for help immediately after the crash. He has since died and been identified as Jack Gumm, 22, of Manassas.

Police say the driver of the Volkswagen and passenger were taken to an area hospital. Both are expected to be ok.

Investigators say the driver of the Honda lost conrol while heading westbound on Old Yates Ford Road. The driver spun out, crossed over the double yellow lines and was hit by the Volkswagen heading in the opposite direction.

Alcohol does not seem to be a factor. Police are still investigating whether or not the Honda driver was speeding.
