Body of missing 6-year-old boy with non-verbal autism found in pond

Investigators had previously said the pond had been checked twice.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Update: The body of a missing 6-year-old boy was pulled from a pond in Gaithersburg Sunday evening, according to Montgomery County Police

Police are asking for the public's help locating a missing 6-year-old boy who has non-verbal autism.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, Fawzan Hassan was last seen at Bohrer Park on Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg around 3 p.m. 

Fawzan is described as a 6-year-old boy with black hair and brown eyes. He stands around 3 feet tall and weighs approximately 42 pounds. 

The 6-year-old was last seen wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and white and silver sneakers.

Anyone who has seen Fawzan, or knows where he may be, is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Non-Emergency line at (301) 279-8000. The line is open 24 hours a day.
