18-year-old shot, killed in Waldorf

The man killed was identified Jayden Samari Reed of Waldorf.

WALDORF, Md. — Deputies in Charles County are looking for who is responsible for a deadly shooting in Waldorf over the weekend. An 18-year-old man was killed, and another person was hurt.

The shooting happened Saturday, March 16, in the 11300 block of Snow Owl Place in Waldorf. Deputies arrived on scene around 8:30 p.m. to find two people shot inside of a car. Deputies say the 18-year-old died from his wounds at the scene. He was later identified as Jayden Samari Reed of Waldorf.

Deputies say another male was present at the time and was shot, but his injuries did not appear life-threatening. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. Deputies have not identified the male who was shot.

A preliminary investigation found that the shooting happened during some type of drug deal, according to the sheriff's office. Further details about what led up to the shooting are not known.
