SILVER SPRING, Md. — A Silver Spring man was arrested on Jan. 15 after Montgomery County police say he watched a woman through the window of her home and recorded her with his cellphone multiple times in November.
Police said Mario Verhage, 43, of Silver Spring, was taken into custody after learning that Verhage allegedly watched his neighbor undress by peeping through her window. He also, according to police, set up his cell phone to record the woman while she was inside her home in the 8500 blocks of 16th Street.
Montgomery County police said it is not clear whether Verhage and the woman lived near each other or knew each other.
Officers, while working with the community, were able to identify Verhage as the suspect and to serve him with an arrest warrant.
Verhage posted bond and was released the same day.
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident or prior incidents involving Verhage is encouraged to contact the 2nd District Station at 240-773-6700.
Back in Dec. 2019, a Hyattsville man faced charges of burglary and Peeping Tom after he allegedly broke into multiple College Park homes and stole items that belonged to the victims, police said.
Aaron Nysus, 37, was charged with five counts of trespassing/Peeping Tom and fourth-degree burglary, police said.
In one instance, a victim reported to authorities that she woke up with Nysus standing by her bed. When she saw him, Nysus reportedly ran off.

Officers were called on Dec. 8 to a home at Hartwick Road where they spoke with a woman who said she woke up to the sound of her front door opening, police said. When she looked around, she didn't see anyone.
Prince George's County Police Department detectives reviewed surveillance video from the building and identified Nysus as the suspect who broke into her apartment. He also walked into three other apartments while inside, police said.
Authorities said that he was also seen on surveillance video checking the doors of about 25 apartments that same morning, staying in each of those apartments for several minutes. In each of those cases, residents were inside and unaware of his presence.
When police searched Nysus' home, they found items belonging to a number of victims, and some belonging to people who didn't know they were targeted.
"Since October of 2014, this individual has been charged in seven incidents for multiple similar crimes in the same area. He is currently on probation for trespassing/peeping tom," Prince George's County police Maj. Sunny Mrotek said. "Through a joint investigation with the University of Maryland Police, we hope this helps bring some relief to the residents of College Park knowing that he was apprehended and charged once again."
Nysus' bond was set at $9,500. He was released from the Department of Corrections. Additional charges are pending, police said.
