27-year-old Montgomery Co. man arrested for road rage incident on I-68

The man was arrested on several charges for pointing a pistol at another driver on the highway.

ALLEGANY COUNTY, Md. — Maryland State Police have arrested a 27-year-old man from Montgomery County for a reported road rage incident in Allegany County on Sunday.

Troopers said the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 68 near the Allegany County line. Initial reports indicated that the driver of an Acura SUV pointed a pistol at another driver before continuing east into Allegany County.

Police put out a lookout for the man and his car. A short time later, deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office spotted the Acura near mile marker 45 on I-68. The deputies were able to stop the car without incident.

During the investigation, deputies found a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol as well as marijuana in the car. The driver was ultimately arrested and charged for possession of the drugs and the gun. 

The Montgomery County man, who was not identified by name, was also charged with first-degree assault on an outstanding warrant by Maryland State Police.

No injuries were reported. Additional details were not made public by police.
