BETHESDA, Md. — Montgomery County Police are investigating a series of fraud cases involving pickpocketing in the Bethesda area.
On Thursday, September 21, one victim received multiple alerts about her credit card being used in different stores. This prompted the victim to check her purse. When she did, she noticed her wallet was missing. The victim quickly contacted the police to report the fraudulent activity occurring on her card.
Officers conducted a preliminary investigation and after reviewing surveillance cameras investigators determined a man and woman were working in tandem to pickpocket residents. Video showed the first victim’s wallet was stolen while she was at the Piccoli Piatti Pizzeria on Old Georgetown Road.
The thieves didn’t stop there, they targeted a second person that same day. This time at the Fish Taco in the same shopping center along Old Georgetown Road.
Officers have issued photos of the suspects.
