ROCKVILLE, Md. — Police in Montgomery County are investigating a crash that left one person dead after being struck by a MARC train on Monday, said officials.
The person was struck by a train near the 6000 block of Halpine Road and traffic was shut down at Bou Avenue behind the Target store while officials completed the investigation, according to Montgomery County Police.
Officials did say that trains that were stopped because of the person who was struck on the tracks, now have continued back to their final destinations. It is not known how many trains were originally stopped because of the incident.
Montgomery County Police at first said the train was a CSX train, but later corrected the tweet to say it was a MARC train.
WUSA9 is looking to learn more about what led to the person being hit by the train.
In October 2019, a teenager was struck by a MARC train in Laurel, Maryland.
Authorities say that the teenager was on the train tracks at this time and suffered life-threatening injuries.
