Woman trapped under Metro after being hit by train at Court House

WMATA said initial video review shows the woman may have had a medical emergency before falling from the platform.

ARLINGTON, Va. — A woman was trapped on Metro tracks underneath a train after falling from the platform and being struck during the Thursday evening rush-hour commute.

Around 5:16 p.m., WMATA officials said an inbound Silver Line train hit a woman at the Court House station. Arlington Fire and EMS crews arrived shortly after and worked to rescue the woman from the tracks. She was removed from the tracks and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

WMATA said initial review of video footage shows the woman may have suffered a medical emergency seconds before falling off the platform.

Metro service was initially suspended during the incident response, but Orange Line trains are now operating through Court House Station using a single track, bypassing the station in both directions.
