GREENBELT, Md. — Police are investigating after a mother said a stranger attempted to abduct her newborn from their stroller Thursday evening.
According to the Greenbelt Police Department, officers were called to the 9100 block of Edmonston Road just after 6:30 p.m. for reports of an attempted kidnapping.
When officers arrived, they located a woman who said she was walking her newborn outside in a stroller, when two dark-colored vehicles pulled up and four people got out. The mother said the strangers tried to grab her child from the stroller.
The mother reportedly grabbed her child and ran while being punched repeatedly.
The group of strangers were gone by the time police arrived.

A nine-year-old girl escaped after being forced into a stranger's car, police said. The community jumped into action to help find the person who did it.
