Maryland State Police: 16-year-old killed, 15-year-old injured in Thursday shooting

According to a preliminary investigation, the shooting does not appear to be random and the victims may have been targeted, police said.

CAMBRIDGE, Md. — Maryland State police are investigating an incident in Cambridge, Maryland Thursday that left two teen boys shot. 

The incident took place shortly before 8:15 p.m., when officers from the Cambridge City Police Department responded to the 900 block of Camelia Street for a reported shooting involving some victims. 

When they arrived on the scene, they found 16-year-old Ja’Len Woolford of Cambridge, who was pronounced dead on the scene. They also located a 15-year-old male who had been shot. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and his identity has not been released.

 No other injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the shooting. According to a preliminary investigation, the shooting does not appear to be random and the victims may have been targeted, police said.

Police went on to confirm that no arrests have been made yet and that anyone with information is asked to call Maryland State Police at 410-749-3101 Ext. 140. Callers may remain anonymous.
