Man's body pulled from Mattawoman Creek – same location missing Charles County man was last seen

Jamell LeeHeung II, 25, of Indian Head, was last seen on Nov. 25.

INDIAN HEAD, Md. — The body of a man was pulled from Mattawoman Creek, which is the same location a missing Charles County man was last seen, the sheriff's office said Thursday.

On Wednesday, around 10:30 a.m., the Charles County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a body of a man being found in Mattawoman Creek.

The sheriff's office said the body was found about two miles from Slavin's Dock – the location where Jamell LeeHeung II, 25, of Indian Head, was last seen.

The man's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy and identification. The man has not yet been identified as LeeHeung.

LeeHeung was last seen Nov. 25, according to his father, when he went out for the night and was on the phone with his sister before getting in his car to go home to the Indian Head Naval Base where the Army Veteran lives and works.

Earlier this month, the Charles County Dive Rescue team found LeeHeung's vehicle submerged in Mattawoman Creek near Slavin's Dock in Indian Head. However, LeeHeung was not there, giving his father hope that he's still out there somewhere.

"My mind went to dad mode again and try to find him. We still have hope," he told WUSA9 at the time.

Meanwhile, Kayla, the missing man's wife, said her 5-year-old son is trying to understand why dad isn't home.

"He’s starting to cry at night because daddy’s not here, so it’s been tough," she told WUSA9. "His dad is his best friend. That’s his right hand man, his wingman. For him to not see daddy right now is taking a toll on him slowly like he’s starting to understand."

No other information has been released. WUSA9 has reached out to the family to check on them.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Bringley at (301) 609-6499.
