TEMPLE HILLS, Md. — A man was shot and killed in Temple Hills early Monday morning, sparking a New Year's Day homicide investigation.
Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to Brinkley Road, nearby Fisher Road, around 4:30 a.m. after a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man outside suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man, later identified as 30-year-old Breon Fowler, of Washington, D.C., was taken to the hospital to be treated, but was later pronounced dead.
Detectives are working to establish a person of interest and motive in the deadly shooting case, but they say they don't believe this is a random crime.
The location of this shooting is just five minutes away from the deadly shooting that happened at 3:50 a.m. Monday on Blanford Drive in Fort Washington. The shootings are not said to be connected.
