FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — One man was killed and two other people were injured after a shooting in Fort Washington on New Year's Day.
Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to Blandford Drive, off of Bock Road, around 3:50 a.m. on Monday after a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man outside suffering from injuries due to the shooting. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated and is said to be in stable condition.
Police say a second man was taken to the hospital privately to be treated for gunshot wound injuries. The man, later identified as 21-year-old Jarreau Sanders, of Bowie, was later pronounced dead due to his injuries in connection to the shooting.
In addition, a woman also suffered from injuries due to the shooting. Her injuries are said to not be serious, and she is expected to recover.
Detectives are working to establish a person of interest and motive in the deadly shooting case.
