Man arrested, charged in fatal October stabbing in Upper Marlboro

Joshua Molette Anderson of Upper Marlboro is charged with first- and second-degree murder of Ian Persaud, 34, of Upper Marlboro.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with stabbing a man to death in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, in October, police said.

Joshua Molette Anderson of Upper Marlboro was charged with first- and second-degree murder of Ian Persaud, 34, of Upper Marlboro. 

On Oct. 30, Persaud was stabbed in a parking lot of the 5000 block of Brown Station Road in the unincorporated section of Upper Marlboro around 3:30 a.m. He was taken to the hospital, where he died a short time later.

An investigation led to Anderson being identified as the suspect, though the motive for the stabbing remains unclear. Police said multiple tips into the Prince George's County Crime Solvers assisted with the closure of this case.

Anderson is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
