SILVER SPRING, Md. — A woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being rescued from a burning house.
The Montgomery County Fire and EMS Department were called to the 11500 block of Highview Avenue near Pendleton Drive for reports of a house fire around 2:45 p.m. When they arrived on the scene smoke could be seen coming from the roof.
Eleven rescue crews were on the scene to put out the flames.
During a sweep of the house, they found a woman unconscious and a dog. The woman was evacuated through the bedroom window along with her dog and two cats.
The victim was transported to a hospital. Officials haven’t issued an update on her current condition or identity.
An investigation is underway into what caused the fire.
