GREENBELT, Md. — The Greenbelt community is coming together to take a stand against gun violence on Saturday.
Maryland Congressman Glenn Ivey and other leaders will gather to reclaim a park where five teenagers were injured as a result of a shooting that happened during an unsanctioned senior skip day for students across multiple high schools in the area.
A 14-year-old and 15-year-old were arrested in connection to the shooting back in April at Schrom Hills Park.
Ivey and other leaders will talk about the community's efforts to stop gun violence and how to keep children safe. The event is scheduled from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. at Schrom Hills Park in Greenbelt.
This rally comes after the U.S. Surgeon General declared gun violence the number one cause of death in kids.
