A building was evacuated in Chevy Chase, Maryland for reports of a gas leak

Traffic northbound on Wisconsin Avenue is being diverted at Old Georgetown Road. East West Highway is blocked after Pearl Street.

BETHESDA, Md. — Montgomery County Fire and EMS is investigating a gas leak along Wisconsin Avenue. 

MCFRS was dispatched to 7501 Wisconsin Ave. just after 5:30 p.m. for the smell of gas. When they arrived they found gas concentrations in the building. The building was immediately evacuated. 

The gas company is at the scene evaluating the situation.

Drivers can expect major delays along Wisconsin Ave. Traffic northbound on Wisconsin Avenue is being diverted at Old Georgetown Road. East West Highway is blocked after Pearl Street. Some southbound lanes of Wisconsin Ave. are also blocked.
