GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Gaithersburg Police arrested a student for bringing a loaded privately manufactured handgun to Gaithersburg High School on Tuesday.
The investigation revealed that at approximately 10:45 a.m., school security became aware of the incident and conducted a search on 18-year-old Josue Rivas, a student at the school.
During the search, they found a loaded handgun in the presence of Gaithersburg Police Community Engagement Officers. Police then arrested Rivas and transported him to the Montgomery County central processing unit.
He is being charged with underage possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded handgun, and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
