Family displaced after Gaithersburg home goes up in flames

The fire caused an estimated $600,000 in damages.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A family has no where to call home after their house went up in flames early Friday morning.

Crews with Montgomery County Fire responded to the house fire on Cochrane Court in Gaithersburg.

Once there, firefighters noticed heavy fire coming from the rear of the home and got to work extinguishing the flames.

Two adults and a child were home at the time the fire began. They were alerted to it by a smoke alarm and were able to get out safely.

Investigators say the fire was accidental and most likely had something to do with an electrical issue. The fire caused an estimated $600,000 in damages.
