Downtown Silver Spring businesses damaged in drive-by shooting, police say

Police say they are searching for two people in a black sedan with dark-tinted windows and black rims.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Authorities are looking for people in a black vehicle who fired multiple shots at several downtown Silver Spring businesses early Monday morning, Montgomery County police said.

The shooting was reported around 3 a.m. after multiple people called police reporting shots fired from a car on Georgia Avenue.

Officers arrived to find damages to at least two businesses, police said. One business was The Big Greek Café and it had a busted front window, police said. The other business was Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant and it appeared to have a bullet hit the door of the establishment, police said.

Police said they are looking for at least two people who witnesses said were in a black sedan with dark-tinted windows and black rims.

The first shooter is described as a black man with short dreadlocks, wearing a black shirt, gold chain and white pants, police said. The only description of the second person is a red shirt, police said. 

No injuries were reported. Police have notified hospitals in area in case there are any injuries from the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
