Family dog killed in hit and run, Maryland family says

Ring camera video shows a driver, in what appears to be a gray SUV, strike the dog and continue to drive off without any acknowledgement.

MARYLAND, USA — A Silver Spring family is mourning the death of their dog “Teddy”, after he was struck by a driver outside of their home along Killkenny Street.

“I heard my mom calling my name,” said Olixis Ayala who ran out the house to find ‘Teddy’ lying lifeless in the street. His family owns the dog.

Ring camera video shows a driver, in what appears to be a gray SUV, strike the dog and continue to drive off without any acknowledgement. The video also shows Olixis Ayala come out of the house and run into the street to track down the driver.

“He wouldn’t want us to keep crying,” said Ayala who remains in shock.

The family could not give WUSA9 a description of the vehicle seen in the video. They said the car was traveling too fast and they were not able to read the license plate or obtain a description of the driver.

Killkenny Street has a speed limit of 25 miles an hour, the family said. Witnesses and the family claim, the driver was traveling above the posted speed limit.

“The car was going too fast at least 40 miles an hour” Ayala said.

A police report was filed with Montgomery County Police.
