Police identify 70-year-old man who was hit by a car and killed in Prince George's Co.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Police say a man was hit by a driver and killed in Prince George's County Tuesday morning. Investigators are still trying to figure out what led to the deadly collision. 

Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to a report of a crash in the area of Riggs Road between Sheridan Street and Chillum Road around 6 a.m. When officers got there, they found the man in the road. He was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The man has since been identified as 70-year-old Marcos Gonzalez-Chavez of Chillum. 

The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. Roads in the area are were closed for the crash investigation Tuesday morning.

This was the second deadly crash involving a pedestrian in Prince George's County Tuesday morning. Another man was struck and killed around 3 a.m. in the 5000 block of Branch Avenue right after the Capital Beltway.

Both crash investigations are active and ongoing. Anyone who has information about either collision is asked to contact police at 1-866-411-TIPS.
