BETHESDA, Md. — Montgomery County Police have identified a man they believe to be connected to a theft that occurred last month.
On September 16, a man was inside a CAVA located on Bethesda Avenue. He said a stranger stole his black fanny pack from off of the back of his chair. The fanny pack contained his credit cards and other personal property.
The victim did not notice the bag missing right away. However, once he realized it was gone, he began receiving notifications that his credit cards had been used. One purchase was made at a Target on Wisconsin Avenue, less than a mile from the CAVA where his bag was stolen.
At this time, we do not know if any other purchases were made using the card. We also don’t know the total amount stolen from the card.
However, detectives investigating the case have released multiple photos from surveillance videos from inside of CAVA and Target. The alleged thief is described as being between 40 and 50 with a salt-and-pepper beard.
Now that the photos have been released, Montgomery County Police are asking for the community’s help in identifying the man in the photos.
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
