A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of his 3-month-old daughter, police said.
Cornell Delvonte Holton is charged with first-degree felony murder and first-degree cruelty to children in the death of Skylar Newman, of Southeast, DC.
On March 16, DC police responded to the 4300 block of G Street in Southeast for the report of an unconscious baby. Newman was found unresponsive and unconscious and was taken to the hospital in grave condition.
On March 19, Newman was pronounced dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined the cause of death as blunt force injuries. Police ruled Newman's death as a homicide.
After issuing a warrant for his arrest, Holton was arrested by police on Sunday.
Police say Holton was the one who made the initial 911 call but did not say what led up to Newman's death.
This is a developing story.
