Police: Woman dies after shooting in SE DC

A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was pronounced dead following a shooting Friday night in the 1700 block of W Street Southeast.

WASHINGTON — Police have opened a homicide investigation after a woman was pronounced dead following a shooting in Southeast D.C. Friday night.

Around 8:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of W Street Southeast for a report of a shooting.

At the scene, officers located a woman unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to an area hospital after being pronounced dead on scene.

The woman was later identified by police as 30-year-old Fajr Vallejos of Southeast, D.C. Police say there is no suspect lookout at this time, and no arrests have been made. The case remains under investigation. 

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to an arrest and conviction in homicides in D.C. Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099 or send a text message to 50411. Those wishing to report a tip can remain anonymous.
