According to a release from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the shooting happened in the 1200 block of 7th Street NW just after 4:45 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived, they found the teen, later identified as Makai Green, unconscious and not breathing in an alley. Makai was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

In a press conference Friday, MPD said the lone shooter got out of a car before going into the alley and shooting at a group of people, hitting the Makai multiple times. The suspect then ran back to a car and drove away.

The suspect is described as being 5-foot-10, a very thin build, wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored jacket, a winter mask and tennis shoes.

Days later, MPD released photos of the person they believe pulled the trigger. They have also released photos of the car they believe the suspect drove away in.
