Motorcyclist crashes, killed in Southeast DC

Police have not said what led up in the moments before the crash or if there were any other contributing factors.

WASHINGTON — A man is dead after crashing his motorcycle overnight in Southeast D.C. An investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department is underway. 

At 1:04 a.m. on Thursday, police say a man was driving a 2021 Harley Davidson Trike southbound on I-295 at Exit 1C, Martin Luther King Junior Avenue/11th Street, SE. 

While on the ramp, investigators say the motorcycle driver struck the guard rail and was ejected from his bike over it. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 59-year-old Don Antonio Coleman of Southwest, D.C.

The investigation into the deadly crash remains active and ongoing.
