WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police are investigating after a Metro Transit Police officer shot at a man who reportedly took out a gun during a traffic stop Tuesday.
On Tuesday, just before 10:30 p.m., members of the Metro Transit Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop along Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast, D.C. The driver attempted to flee and ran into a fence.
Police say the driver got out of the vehicle and reportedly pointed a gun at one of the Metro Transit Officers. The officer then pulled out his weapon and fired at the suspect.
The officer didn’t land a shot, and the suspect ran away. He disappeared and has not been seen since.
There have been no reports of any gunshot victims being admitted to any of the nearby hospitals.
