WASHINGTON — The Metro Transit Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying a man wanted on aggravated assault charges after a man was stabbed on a Metro bus on Saturday.
Officers responded to a call at 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of 34th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest. The victim, a man, bore the brunt of this violent attack, sustaining critical injuries in the process.
MTPD swiftly secured the scene to provide the victim medical assistance. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said Sunday that the victim was in serious but stable condition.
Investigators said Monday morning that there does not appear to be any connection between the two men, but police said they were in a "verbal altercation" before the stabbing happened.
As the investigation unfolds, MTPD officers are working to gather information and track down the suspect. Late Saturday night, Metro Police put out surveillance photos of a person they're looking for in connection to the stabbing.
Anyone who has seen him or knows where he is asked to call (202) 968-2121 or text 696873.
