Man on rental scooter hit by Metrobus in NW DC, police say

The man was taken to the hospital with serious, life threatening injuries, authorities said.

WASHINGTON — A man is in the hospital after he was hit by a Metrobus in D.C. on Sunday evening.

A Metrobus operating on the X2 route was involved in a collision in the vicinity of 10th and H Street Northwest around 5 p.m., according to Ian Jannetta, a spokesperson with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

A watch commander with the Metropolitan Police Department's Second District, and Vito Maggiolo, Public Information Officer for DC Fire and EMS, both confirm the victim was hit while on a rental scooter. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities said. As of Monday morning, police say the man was still in the hospital with serious injuries.

MPD's Major Crash Team was called to the scene to conduct an investigation to figure out exactly what happened. That investigation is still underway, and additional details have not been released by investigators.
