Man shot, killed in early morning shooting in Northwest DC

Police say potential suspect was last seen westbound on Taylor Street, Northwest.

WASHINGTON — DC Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Petworth early Monday morning.

Officers received a call at 2:41 a.m. for reports of a shooting in the 900 block of Shepherd Street, Northwest, two blocks away from the Georgia Avenue–Petworth station.

When police arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The man has since been identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Dewayne Johnson of Southeast, D.C.

The District Four watch commander says investigators are gathering details, including surveillance that will lead to more information about the shooting.

A lookout has been issued for a man who was last seen heading westbound on Taylor Street Northwest. The suspect remains at large.
