Man struck, killed crossing the road in NW DC, police say

The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Wilmer Rosali Canales Ventura of Northwest, D.C.

WASHINGTON — Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a car in Northwest D.C. last Thursday.

At 2:21 p.m. on Oct. 12, police say a man was crossing Georgia Avenue NW at Ingraham Street NW near the crosswalk when he was hit by a Toyota RAV4.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where investigators say he later died from his injuries on Friday. He has since been identified as 42-year-old Wilmer Rosali Canales Ventura of Northwest, D.C.

Police say the driver of the RAV4 stayed at the scene after the crash.

Police have not said what led up to the crash or if there were any other contributing factors.

The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing.
