WASHINGTON — D.C. Police are searching for the person who left a grenade outside a police station.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. reports of a suspicious package outside the 2D District police station came in. Officers were quickly mobilized to begin an investigation.
The package was left in the 3300 block of Idaho Avenue in Northwest. When officers opened it, they found a grenade inside.
The bomb squad arrived at the scene, widened the scene perimeter, and began investigating. A few hours later a member of the bomb squad can be seen walking with the grenade in his hand. Officials later announced the bomb was “rendered safe."
