No information has been released yet about what led up to the blaze as well as the estimated cost of the damages.

WASHINGTON — A firefighter was injured while battling a blaze at a Northwest D.C. home Tuesday night.

DC Fire and EMS responded to 11th Street Northwest, near Otis Place Northwest, after a report of a fire at a two-story row home, according to an 8:08 p.m. social media post. Fire officials say the flame came from the basement of the home, and the fire was being knocked down.

By 8:13 p.m. the fire was reportedly knocked down in the English-style basement and firefighters started to look for any additional flames that could spread from the basement. Within an hour the fire was confirmed to be confined to just the basement and was under control.

While battling the fire, one firefighter was injured, and they were taken to a local hospital to be further evaluated. No other injuries were reported due to the fire.

Investigators with the fire department responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. No information has been released yet about what led up to the blaze as well as the estimated cost of the damages.

The investigation into the fire is underway.
