WASHINGTON — A firefighter was hurt Monday evening after battling a blaze at an apartment building in Northwest D.C.
Just before 7 p.m., the DC Fire and EMS posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that firefighters had arrived at the scene of a fire on Connecticut Avenue Northwest, at an apartment complex not too far away from the Smithsonian National Zoo. Upon arrival, they saw fire showing from the attic of the building, which is located above the laundry room.
At that time, fire officials said that the fire, which was contained to the attic, had been extinguished, but they were still working on hot spots.
Around 30 minutes later, the fire department said one firefighter was taken to the hospital to be evaluated after working to tackle to the apartment building fire. No information has been released about the severity of the injuries sustained in the fire.
No other injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, neither resident or firefighter.
Three adults have been displaced as a result of the fire.
The scene was cleared after completing firefighter decontamination and rehabilitation, the department said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
