WASHINGTON — DC Fire and EMS just extinguished a fire on the roof of an

Reports came in of a fire in the ventilation system of a 7-story apartment building. Fire squads were on the scene just before 9 p.m.

Videos showed sparks coming from the roof. DC Fire and EMS tweeted that a small fire could be seen on the roof of the apartment building.

While we do know the fire began in the ventilation system, we don’t know what the cause of it was. It could be due to faulty wires or something with the HVAC system. With the temperatures dropping and more people turning their heating on, the amount of house fires reported usually increases this time of year.

The fire was extinguished and thankfully, DC Fire reports no one was injured and it doesn’t appear as though any families will be displaced.

This is an ongoing investigation as DC Fire and EMS work to find what caused the fire.
