WASHINGTON — A Maryland teenager is facing charges in connection to a deadly shooting that happened in D.C. late last year.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened just after 11:45 a.m. on December 18, 2023, when officers were called to the 5400 block of Illinois Avenue, Northwest.
When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to an area hospital in a private vehicle and later died from his injuries.
Police have since identified the man as 27-year-old Jihad Darden, of Northwest, D.C.
Less than two months after the deadly shooting, police arrested a 15-year-old boy in Bowie, Maryland. He will be extradited to Washington, D.C., and charged with first-degree murder while armed.
