ALEXANDRIA, Va. — An arborist died Saturday morning after being electrocuted on the job in Alexandria.
Alexandria Fire and Police Departments responded to reports of an apparent electrocution on West Mount Ida Avenue in the Del Ray area at 10:09 a.m., where they located the unresponsive arborist.
Officials say he was trimming a tree when a branch made contact with a live power line and electrocuted him. He was pronounced dead on site and detectives are working to notify next of kin. Details regarding his identity have not been made public.
The city of Alexandria says Dominion Power assisted in clearing the electrical hazard.
