BOWIE, Md. — Attention local thrill seekers, big changes are coming to Six Flags of America this summer.
The amusement park announced that they will begin implementing a new chaperone policy. In a statement issued by Six Flags, the company says the safety of their guests is their priority and the reason for the new policy.
The chaperone policy went into effect on Friday and applies to all guests under 15 years old. Guests 15 and younger are now required to be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 in order to be admitted to or remain in the park after 4 p.m.
The person chaperoning must present a government-issued photo I.D. at ticket entry. A picture of your I.D. will not grant you entrance.
A single chaperone is only permitted to escort up to 10 guests 15 and younger per day. Additionally, the chaperone must accompany the teens throughout their entire stay at the park and be available by phone.
Any person under 15 years old found in the park after 4 p.m. without a chaperone will be removed from the grounds immediately. Guests under 16 years old will be allowed to enter the park prior to 4 p.m. without a chaperone.
It is unclear what prompted these changes since the amusement park has been operating since March of this year.
