Montgomery College Rockville campus briefly placed on lockdown due to nearby shooting

Officials with Montgomery College locked down the campus while police searched with K-9s.

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Rockville City Police are investigating a double shooting near the Montgomery College Rockville Campus. 

On Friday, officers received calls for reports of a shooting just before 5 p.m. When they arrived, at College Parkway they located a person shot. 

The victim has been taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting happened off campus near the school.

Officials with Montgomery College issued the lockdown on campus, and everyone was asked to secure in place and lock all doors while police searched the school with K-9s.

"During the incident and out of an abundance caution, Montgomery College’s Rockville campus was put in a lockdown status," police said. "There is no evidence to believe the shooting is connected to Montgomery College and the college has since resumed normal operations."

Rockville Police were on campus searching for two people involved in the shooting. 

According to Montgomery College, one of the suspects is a 30-year-old man wearing a white shirt and gray pants. The second suspect is believed to be 20 years old wearing a gray hoodie and black pants with orange strips, carrying a black bag.

This is an ongoing investigation. Little details are confirmed at this time. WUSA9 has a crew at the scene to gather more information. We will update you when we have more.
