Barricade situation ends after double shooting in Southeast

Both men were hospitalized in the shooting. One man has been taken into custody in connection.

WASHINGTON — A barricade situation ended without incident after midnight on Friday, police said.

The barricade began as a double shooting along the 500 block of Newcomb Street Thursday night. Police arrived around 9 p.m. where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Both men were taken to a local hospital conscious and breathing. Their current condition and identities are unknown at this time. 

An hour after officers got to the scene MPD's Emergency Response Team was dispatched for a barricade. MPD said on social media that the barricade was related to the earlier shooting. Just after midnight, police said the situation had "concluded without incident."

One man has been apprehended in connection to the shooting. His identity has not yet been revealed. 

Information on what led up to the shooting has not been released at this time. This investigation is active and ongoing. We will update you when more information becomes available.
