PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — A new program in Prince George's County means at least 1,000 students won't have to pay for their college education.
Councilmember Edward Burroughs introduced the program that would provide $1 million for Prince George's County Community College students to attend school. The program is made possible through a partnership with Prince George's County Community College and will be available to those living in specific parts of the county.
"As the conversation continues on whether the government should help fund higher education, it's time to take definitive action to help students. I want to ensure all my constituents who want to attend college can do so without money standing in the way," said Burroughs.
On Thursday, at 11 a.m., Burroughs and PGCC President Dr. Falecia Williams will hold a news conference at the community college's Center for Performing Arts Atrium at 301 Largo Road to discuss the program.
More details will be announced at that news conference.
