Amazon surprises DMV students with engineering scholarships

Each student received $40,000 over four years to study computer science or engineering.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Dozens of local students in the D.C. region now have money to pursue an education in computer science and engineering. Forty high school seniors visited Amazon's HQ to in Arlington for a tour before they were surprised with the scholarship announcement. 

Each student was selected for the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship. Each scholar will receive up to $40,000 over four years to study computer science or engineering at the U.S. college or university of their choice, starting this fall. These students are among 400 that Amazon is awarding scholarships to this year, along with a paid internship offer at Amazon after their freshman year of college.

Student will also receive skills development and mental health resources, access to an emergency grant fund for unexpected financial obligations that might prevent them from attending school, and networking opportunities with managers and their peers.
